There's a right way....and a wrong way.
As you can see, the garment on the left( or top depending on your server) ....nicely done, fits well, looks actually glamorous, which is quite an accomplishment for a handknitted garment. (Courtesy of Wendy at www.knitandtonic.typepad.com, design from www.Glampyre.com --check them both out, they rock.)
The design on the right (bottom)? Clearly sucks. Looks like a shawl folded in half with a neckhole half-heartedly shoved into the center.
Bonus question: Which pattern came from an international fiber house? Which from a small, independent knitter who has a full-time job doing something completely non-knitting?
ETA: Y'all, while I love you like family, I really did NOT put Wendy's picture up here to put her up for nasty scrutiny. In my own naive way, I really thought she did a spectacular job with this sweater and wears it fantastically. So please, lay off her bra and whatever else because she is truly awesome, as you would see if you go to her site. Please.
